What are the differences between hair extensions methods?
At House of Lox we offer 5 different methods of Hair Extensions
#1 Tape Hair Extensions
This popular form of hair extensions are generally suitable for most hair types. Tape-in hair extensions consist of pairs of one-inch wide pre-taped hair wefts that are applied to both sides of a section of your natural hair to create a “sandwich’. This is a quick method that doesn’t need heat tools or chemicals and won’t damage your natural hair. Generally these extensions last from 6-12 weeks depending your natural hair. When you need them refreshed your extensions can be removed, re-taped & reapplied.
If you take good care of your extensions they can be re-used for multiple applications anywhere from four to twelve months with one set.
#2 Keratin Bond Hair Extensions
Keratin bond extensions are another popular method. Consisting of small strands of hair which are applied individually to sections of your hair using a heat tool. They are popular for regular users of hair extensions as they are versatile and last up to three to six months with the right care. Once they are removed new bonds must be used if they are to be reapplied.
#3 Weft Hair Extensions
Weft hair extensions are not suitable for all hair types. They are attached using small silicone lined microbeads. Generally every six to eight weeks the wefts need to be tightened new hair may need to be applied every second lift.
People with thick hair wanting maximum length & additional thickness would generally gravitate towards wefts.
#4 Micro-Bead Hair Extensions
Micro-bead extensions is an older method of hair extension, also known as i-tip & micro-link extensions. Some people prefer them as an alternative to keratin bonds as they have a similar look and feel.
They are applied to individual sections of the hair but are attached using metal beads with a silicone inner lining. This is to protect the hair & prevent damage. Lasting anywhere from six weeks to three months depending on the hair type & growth. When removed the same hair can be reused with fresh beads. With the correct care they can last from six to twelve months.
#5 Clip In Hair Extensions
A great temporary alternative for adding length & volume to hair. Perfect as a new look for a special occasion or event.
They are easy to fit and remove and can be re-used many times.
